Artie Campbell(Recording Artist) - Keyboardist, composer, producer and engineer

" Artie" Campbell, the gospel-funk-jazz dipped keyboardist extrodinare brings his fingerworks and warm augmented jazz chordal knowledge to the sound of the music world. A native Washingtonian, the gifted keyboardist, songwriter, composer grew up listening to the likes of George Duke, Ramsey Lewis, Joe Sample, Lonnie Liston Smith, Larry Dunn and others.Artie Campbell started playing the bass and lead guitar as a young teenager and took theory classes on the piano which got him interested in the 88 keys. He was later introduced to the sweet sounds of the Fender Rhodes and never look back playing any other instrument since.He taught himself to play well enough to be with some of Washington's top R&B groups during his earlier days as a musician.He performed in many local night clubs and did the cabaret circuits and eventually onto the Go-Go circuit.He perform with Heavy Connection ( featuring Ju-Ju House on drums) and Reds and the Boys.Once with Reds and Boys, the group spent over 4 years as an opening act for D.C.'s own top Go-Go acts such as Trouble Funk, Experience Unlimit, Rare Essence and the Godfather of Go-Go " Chuck Brown".Additionally, he performed as a gospel musician for several years traveling up and down the east coast spreading the word.He performed on recording artist "The Singing Deacons" CD "Prayers Change Things" and open up for several local artist and national acts such as Willian Becton, The Singing Angels. In 2001 Artie was a member of the Jazz/Funk band "Nametag" that headlined around the Washington Metropolitan area including venues such as "Jokes on Us". that headline some of HBO's, Showtime, and BET brightest comedians.Artie Campbell went on to play with recording artist and jazz guitarist sensation Ron Smith for several years and Standard Procedure. During his tenure on the jazz scene, he began to seriously write and develope his own style of music and indenity.As a songwirter, composer and producer, Artie Campbell has produced 2 solo CD's" Nothing Like a Smooth Groove" and " These Grooves are hittin" to be release sometime in late fall of 2007. He also help write some of the music for Gospel recording artist group " Covenant". Even though his 1st CD was still lukewarm to the musical world, word is already out to be on the look out for the release of the 2nd CD, the 19 cuts are some of his best work.Please feel free to listen to "Get on It", a release on the 2nd CD and more to come.I will also be posting some new upcoming Smooth Jazz orignals very soon along with the new CD.
